IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THIS SITE.

The MCS News Australia social network site is an volunteer site supported by the MCS Society of Australia Inc.

This is a site open to the public and is a  place for people to connect and to share MCS knowledge and experiences.

The site is for those living with MCS, their families, carers and friends, and for those with an interest in MCS.

It is ok to use a pseudonym, many people use their first name followed by an initial.

Please remember it is a public site, so civilised discussion is best (robust discussion is good too, but remain civilised and non personal).

If you post something that on reflection you wish to take down (and who hasn't done that lol), then often you can delete it yourself, or you can message the moderator (usually Harry) who can delete it for you as soon as they log on.

Keeping in mind this is a networking site, the privacy settings for this site have been set to "Public" to make this main page visible to visitors and searchable on the web. However the forum is visible only to members. Anyone can sign up to become a member.

NOTE: Because the photo feature is on this main page the photos and comments can be seen by visitors and are searchable by the web. If you wish to comment on a photo but dont wish your comment to be visible to the web (with your avatar name), then you can post a message on the wall of the person who posted the photo, or message them.

Also, please do not practice Medicine or law or any other profession you are not currently qualified in. You can relate to someone what you use in a particular situation and how it helps you. And you can discuss medicines and law etc.

Report Spamers as they will be promptly booted off.

This site is for informational and social purposes and is not intended to replace the examination, analysis, advice and treatment of a licensed medical or other professional, and no such claims are inferred. Victorian Department of Health publishes new MCS Hospital Guidelines.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity
A Guide for Victorian hospitals.

Authorised by the State Government of Victoria

Copies can be downloaded from the Department of Health, Victoria, Australia via the following link

"Summary

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) is a debilitating condition described as serious physical symptoms initiated by chemical exposure. Since there are no diagnostic or clinical guidelines for MCS in Australia, it is possible that some chemically hypersensitive individuals have symptoms more aligned with MCS.

Patients with an MCS condition may suffer from a variety of physical symptoms as a result of exposure to chemicals. The physical symptoms are likely to undermine patient treatment whilst in hospital, affecting recovery, health outcomes and wellbeing.

The chemicals or incitants (agents that produce clinical symptoms) vary considerably and are often found in hospital environments. These incitants may be in food and drink normally provided to in-patients and/or may include hospital cleaning and disinfectant products, as well personal products such as perfumes or hair care. The hospital stay of patients with MCS is ideally planned with hospital administration prior to admission and managed by health professional staff on an individual, case-by-case basis.

The purpose of this MCS Guide is to provide guidance and raise awareness of the need for hospitals to develop local policies/guidelines; it is not provided as a definitive MCS text or to argue the aetiology of the condition."

European Parliament: Declaration on MCS

European Parliament, MCS & EHS Declaration!

This is a major document, recommending "that Member States of the European Union (EU) include MCS and EHS in their own International Catalogue of Disease (ICD) and in their ILO-based Lists of Occupational Diseases; suggests that the WHO Assembly include MCS and EHS in its upcoming ICD-11"

This document is now in a three month process to determine whether it will be acted on. If the appropriate number of  European parliamentarians sign onto the declaration it will then be forwarded by the President to the Council, the Commission and the parliaments of the Member States of the EU.

Copies of the Declaration can be downloaded from here...
